Nan's recipe for a growing boy. It's a rich, slow-cooked bolognese, with penne pasta and cheese. Simply cook the pasta and heat up the bolognese sauce, serve with cheese. 

It’s packed with protein from the meat, which helps collagen production and supports your muscles. Plus, the tomatoes, herbs and extra veg add vitamins and flavour without any extra junk.

Serving/Storage Instructions

Cook the pasta

Bring a pot of salted water to the boil.

Add the pasta and cook for 8–10 minutes (or until al dente).

Drain, but keep a spoonful of the cooking water.

Heat the bolognese

Remove from the bag and place in a microwave-safe bowl.

Heat on high for 3 minutes, or until hot all the way through, stirring halfway.

Mix it up

Toss the hot pasta with the bolognese sauce.

Add a splash of the reserved pasta water if you want it extra silky.

Finish & serve

Sprinkle over the parmesan cheese, crack a little pepper on top, and dig in.
